We Love Designer

So after watching the Season Finale of Project Runway, I have some things to say.
My first problem tonight was when I selected 'Play' on Tivo, due to the place in time wherein Tivo started recording the end of Models of the Runway was the beginning of the recording. The ending of the show revealed which Model had won PR which ruined the surprise of who would be named America's next top designer for me. So already I was upset.
I have been having a lot of issues with this season of PR and I feel all of my problems are because of the move to Lifetime. This season we saw some very talented designers. I was very pleased and excited about this group of designers, especially after last season's lackluster showing. While these strong designers produced some great works of art and three very strong designers made it to Bryant Park, great disservices were done to these designers.
1. Los Angeles. I don't know why people think that anything of consequence happens in LA. The move to LA was a terrible disservice to the designers. The garment district of LA is nowhere near what New York has. The LA Mood pales in comparison to NYC. The move had negative repercussions and brings us to the second issue I had with this season.
2. Judges. Nina Garcia and Michael Kors have become an essential part of PR. Since PR was in LA these two people who are based in NY could not make a solid commitment to PR. Having a revolving door of judges was a huge mistake. Strong designers were booted and some very weak designers made it too far in the competition. In past competitions Nina and Michael have been able to weed out the designers who shouldn't be part of PR.
It has just been a hot mess. And not in the fabulous way. I really just need to rewatch the episode. I feel like I did not even get to really see the collections because I was kind of upset. I can't even really decide who I felt the winner was. I mean I liked Irina's black collection. Carol Hannah's was quite lovely. And Althea put together a collection that was quite good.
This season of PR is done and I will miss my favorite Heidi and Tim and the biting Nina Garcia and Michael Kors. See you all again next time. And back in NYC, thank the lord!

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

I love Halloween. Not only because it's my birthday but because ordinary people get to dress up on one evening each year and get to completely let go. You can really be whatever you want to be. Its a totally freeing thing that I have always been a big fan of. Some costumes showcase one's own creativity. Some make statements. And some costumes share with the world a part of our ourselves.
So I had a nice time. Of course hindsight being 20/20 I would definitely do some things differently and I have a better idea of what to do for next year.
Today I am 24. And honestly I don't feel any different.
